Herrick House
Herrick House
Lindisfarne College required new facilities and spaces in its homestead onsite. A part of this was an alteration of the school administration space to include a reception area which necessitated removal of walls. This was navigated by introducing a single column with multiple intersecting arches that followed the craft of the building’s ornate stairwell. Thus, natural light was allowed to flow more freely throughout, without detracting from the building’s heritage.
The Herrick family homestead is an historic 19th Century building donated to Lindisfarne College and this alteration has brought the interior up to a modern standard of working, whilst maintaining the craft that went into its construction.
